Location & Getting Here
Stavros Bay sits on the coast of Stavros on the western side of Tinos island in the Cyclades, Greece. The properties sit directly on Stavros Beach — a quiet, sandy bay that faces west toward the open Aegean Sea, not toward the busy ferry port area. This means complete peace and privacy, with no boat or ferry traffic in front of the beach, while still being just a 5-minute drive (3 km) from Tinos town and the main ferry port. It is one of the closest beachfront accommodations to Tinos port on the entire island.
Approximately 3 km — a 5-minute drive. Stavros Bay is among the closest beachfront properties to the Tinos ferry port on the island. You can step off the ferry and be relaxing on your private terrace with an Aegean sea view in under 10 minutes. We recommend renting a car or scooter at the port; transfers can also be arranged on request. Full directions on our How to Arrive page.
The easiest route is by ferry from Piraeus port in Athens — standard ferries take 4 to 5 hours, high-speed catamarans approximately 2.5 hours. Ferries also depart from Rafina port (much closer to Athens International Airport), crossing in around 2 to 3 hours. From Tinos port, Stavros Bay is a 5-minute drive. Book ferry tickets in advance during summer at openseas.gr.
Yes — Mykonos is just a 15 to 20 minute ferry ride from Tinos port, making it an effortless day trip. Many guests use Stavros Bay as a quieter, more authentic and more affordable base while still visiting Mykonos for the day. Mykonos Airport (JMK) also has good international connections if you want to combine your itinerary.
Yes, free private parking is available for all guests. Since Tinos is best explored by car or scooter, we strongly recommend renting a vehicle at the port on arrival. The drive from Tinos port to Stavros Bay takes approximately 5 minutes.
The Beach
Stavros Beach is literally steps from your front door — you can walk from your terrace to the water in under a minute, with no road to cross. It is a peaceful, uncrowded sandy beach with crystal-clear, calm Aegean water that is perfect for swimming, snorkelling and paddling. Because it faces west — away from the port — there is no ferry or boat traffic in front of it, keeping the water calm and the atmosphere tranquil all day.
The beach faces west toward the open Aegean Sea — entirely away from the port. This is one of its most distinctive qualities: you have an unobstructed horizon, no ferry wakes, calm water, and the full sunset directly over the sea every evening. It combines the convenience of being minutes from the port with the tranquility of a secluded, open-sea beach — a combination that is rare anywhere in the Cyclades.
Yes — and they are exceptional. Because Stavros Beach faces directly west, the sun sets into the open Aegean every evening in full view from the beach, your private terrace, and the top of the Windmill. This is one of the most consistently praised aspects of a stay at Stavros Bay. The Windmill's upper terrace, at height, offers a 360-degree panorama that makes sunset watching a particularly memorable experience.
The Historic Windmill
The Stavros Bay Windmill was originally built around the year 1600, making it over 400 years old. It is a genuine, historically authentic Cycladic tower windmill that was carefully restored and converted into a 90 sqm holiday home spread across three floors, using traditional local stone and natural materials. It is the only historic windmill available as holiday accommodation in Tinos. Because of its height and circular design, it offers 360-degree panoramic views over the Aegean Sea, the beach, Mykonos and Syros — a perspective impossible to find anywhere else on the island.
The Windmill sleeps up to 5 guests in 2 bedrooms, across 3 floors. The multi-level layout gives different living spaces on each floor — a ground floor living area, sleeping floors above, and the panoramic open-air terrace at the top. This creates a genuinely unique feel: part historic landmark, part intimate home. It suits couples looking for something extraordinary, a small family, or a group of up to 5 friends.
To our knowledge, yes — it is the only 17th-century windmill that has been converted into accommodation available to rent on Tinos island. Cycladic windmills are iconic in the Aegean but staying inside one — especially one built in 1600 with a direct sea view and a west-facing beach at your feet — is an experience that does not exist elsewhere in Tinos.

Very few properties in Tinos — or anywhere in the Cyclades — combine all of the following: genuine steps-from-the-sand beachfront position, a private west-facing beach with no port traffic, a 17th-century windmill you can actually stay in, five private houses each with its own terrace, and all of this just 5 minutes from the ferry port. Most Tinos accommodation is either close to the port but has no beach, or has a beach but is far from arrival. Stavros Bay has both, without compromise.
Yes — it is exceptionally well suited to families. Stavros Beach has calm, shallow water safe for young children to swim and paddle. House A and House D both sleep 5 guests. The properties are private and free-standing with gardens and terraces where children can play freely. Tinos town is 5 minutes away for supermarkets, pharmacies and restaurants.
Stavros Bay is one of the most romantic settings in the Cyclades. House C is a modern luxury 1-bedroom house designed for couples, with an exclusive sea-view terrace. The Windmill is also very popular with couples — spending nights in a 400-year-old circular tower watching the sun set over the open Aegean from your private terrace is something very few places in Greece can offer. Every evening at Stavros Bay ends with a private sunset — whether from the beach, the terrace or the top of the Windmill.

Tinos Island & Things to Do
The famous Monastery of Panagia Evangelistria — one of Greece's most sacred pilgrimage sites — is a short drive away. The ancient Temple of Poseidon and Amphitrite is at Kionia, walkable along the coastline. Tinos town has excellent tavernas, cafes, local shops and a lively harbour. The island is celebrated for its marble-carving villages (especially Pyrgos), its extraordinary food culture and dozens of beaches from calm family coves to windswept kitesurfing bays. Mykonos is a 15-minute ferry ride for a day trip. Discover Tinos.
May to June and September to October are ideal — the sea is warm, the island is lively but not overcrowded, and the Aegean light is at its most beautiful. July and August are peak summer: very warm, very popular; Stavros Bay fills early so book as soon as possible. The Feast of the Assumption on 15 August is one of the most important religious events in Greece and is centred on Tinos — the island is extremely busy around that date. Spring and early autumn suit those who prefer a quieter, more intimate stay.
Yes. The Stavros and Kionia area has several excellent tavernas serving fresh local seafood and traditional Greek food within short walking or driving distance. Tinos town — just 5 minutes away — offers a wide range from casual portside fish restaurants to more refined dining. Tinos is considered one of the finest gastronomic destinations in the Aegean, known for its artichokes, capers, local cheeses, loukoumades (honey fritters) and excellent local wines. Several celebrated Greek chefs are from Tinos.
